The Starr Historic District spans 24 blocks from North A to North E streets, containing 120 structures that exemplify Victorian residential architecture.
Charles and Elizabeth Starr acquired farmland from Richmond founder Jeremiah Cox in 1825, subdividing the area into residential lots during the 1850s.
The neighborhood features various architectural styles including Italianate, Second Empire, Greek Revival, and Queen Anne designs from the 19th century.
Visitors can obtain walking tour brochures at the Old National Road Welcome Center to explore the district's architectural heritage.
The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, maintained two separate residences within the Starr Historic District during their time in Richmond.
