Founded in 1898, the institution acquired its first permanent collection painting in 1899 and has continued to expand its collection through annual acquisitions.
The museum maintains an annual tradition of the All Wayne County High School Art Exhibition, showcasing student artwork since its establishment in 1898.
Located at 350 Hub Etchison Parkway, the museum offers free admission and operates Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM.
This institution stands as the only public art museum in the United States that operates within an active public high school building.
