Strasenburgh Planetarium, Planetarium at East Avenue, Rochester, United States
The Strasenburgh Planetarium features a 65-foot-diameter Star Theater with 225 seats and advanced projection systems for space exploration presentations.
The facility opened on September 14, 1968, following a significant donation from Edwin and Clara Strasenburgh to the Rochester Museum of Arts and Sciences.
The Stars with Carl program continues the tradition of live star presentations using the original 1968 Zeiss Mark VI projector to showcase constellations.
The planetarium operates regular weekly shows about current sky observations, planetary systems, and astronomical phenomena, with programs suitable for different age groups.
This institution was the first planetarium worldwide to implement computer automation systems for astronomical presentations and educational programs.
