Stellafane Observatory

Stellafane Observatory is an astronomical facility on a hilltop in Vermont, comprising a clubhouse and an observatory dome at roughly 1,270 feet elevation. The site was designed specifically for sky observation and houses a large reflecting telescope with a rotating mount.

The site was established in 1924 by Russell W. Porter, a pioneer who designed both the clubhouse and the observatory structure according to his vision. It grew quickly into an important center for amateur astronomers and telescope makers.

The site is maintained by a community of amateur astronomers who gather regularly to observe and share their interest in the night sky. This tradition of fellowship among sky watchers has shaped the character of the place over many decades.
