Tashmoo Park, Former amusement park in Algonac, Michigan, United States.
Tashmoo Park was an amusement park stretching along Lake St. Clair shores with rides, a casino building, a dance pavilion, picnic areas, and a baseball field. The original dance pavilion still stands at the site today.
The park began operating in 1897 and attracted up to 250,000 visitors per season who arrived by steamship from Detroit. It remained a popular destination until closing in 1951.
Native Americans from Walpole Island sold handmade moccasins and beadwork to park visitors, bringing local craftsmanship into the guest experience.
The site is accessible today, though the historic dance pavilion is now used by a local boat storage facility. Visitors should expect ruins and limited amenities at the location.
A 2013 diver discovery brought up a bottle from the St. Clair River containing a message written by two park visitors in 1915. This chance finding connects hidden park history with the present day.
