Tau Beta Pi

Tau Beta Pi selects engineering students who demonstrate academic achievement and integrity through a rigorous evaluation process at its headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The organization began at Lehigh University in 1885 and expanded nationwide, establishing its central office operations in Knoxville to coordinate activities across 255 chapters.

Members of Tau Beta Pi engage in community service projects, mentor younger engineering students, and participate in professional development programs throughout their academic careers.

The association provides annual scholarships worth $2,000 to 250 senior engineering students and offers $10,000 fellowships to 32 graduates for advanced engineering studies.

The organization uses a distinctive bent-shaped badge as its symbol, representing a support beam that demonstrates both strength and the practical applications of engineering principles.
