Knoxville, University town in Tennessee, United States

Located at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains along the Tennessee River, Knoxville combines urban development with natural surroundings through 80 kilometers of trails.

Established in 1786, Knoxville served as the first capital of Tennessee until 1819 and was named after Henry Knox, the first United States Secretary of War.
