The Highground Veterans Memorial Park, Veterans memorial park in Neillsville, Wisconsin, US
The Highground Veterans Memorial Park is a 155-acre grounds with multiple monuments, a museum, and a gift shop. The property also features pavilions, picnic areas, and four miles of hiking trails throughout.
The Wisconsin Vietnam Veterans Memorial Project started in 1984 in response to local veteran needs. It eventually expanded into one of the largest staffed veterans parks across the United States.
The site honors more than 20 military branches through separate monuments, including a National Native American Vietnam Veterans Memorial recognized by Congress. Visitors encounter tributes spanning different eras and backgrounds of service.
The grounds are accessible 24 hours daily throughout the year with free admission for all visitors. The main pathways are well maintained and easy to navigate, though hiking trails may vary in difficulty.
Bronze wind chimes bearing names of Wisconsin service members are scattered across the grounds and produce sounds when breezes flow through them. This auditory installation creates a subtle, ongoing reminder while walking the property.
