The Omni Homestead Resort, Historic mountain resort in Hot Springs, United States
The Omni Homestead Resort stretches across mountain terrain with several Greek Revival buildings and natural hot springs that rise from the ground. Two golf courses sit below the main compound and a ski area with slopes and lifts lies higher on the mountainside.
The first building was erected in 1766 and rebuilt completely after a fire in 1901. Twenty-four United States presidents have stayed at the property since its opening.
Japanese diplomats lived here during the early months after Pearl Harbor while awaiting prisoner exchange during World War II. The compound hosted the 1943 meeting where Allied nations planned the creation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
Eight restaurants spread across the compound and a large spa offers several thermal baths and treatments. The ski area opens during winter and the golf courses remain playable from spring through fall.
The first golf tee on the property remains the oldest in the country still in use today. The thermal springs on the grounds are the largest natural hot springs in Virginia.
