Verona Beach State Park, State park on Oneida Lake in Verona, United States
Verona Beach State Park extends along 2 miles (3 kilometers) of Oneida Lake shoreline with a variety of habitats including forests and wetlands. The property features 13 miles (21 kilometers) of marked trails that pass through these different natural zones.
The Lenape and other Native peoples inhabited the area around Oneida Lake before the land came under state management. The transformation into a protected park occurred to preserve the natural habitats for future generations.
The park serves as a gathering place for community events and nature education programs that help visitors connect with local wildlife and plants. People come here to participate in seasonal activities and spend time outdoors together.
The park offers 47 camping sites, with some equipped with electric hookups available for reservation. Bookings open from May through October and can be arranged up to nine months in advance.
The eastern section of the park features a distinctive mix of Black Creek, cattail marshes, and bottomland hardwood swamps with rare plant species. These blended habitats support wildlife that is harder to encounter elsewhere in the region.
