Vogel State Park

Vogel State Park is a nature reserve in northern Georgia with a mountain lake at 2,500 feet elevation surrounded by forest near Blood Mountain. The park offers cottages, camping sites, picnic areas, multiple hiking trails, and a swimming beach along the water.

The park was developed during the Great Depression in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps and is now Georgia's second oldest state park. This organization built many of the trails and structures that remain today.

The seasonal CCC museum displays exhibits about workers who built the park's infrastructure during the 1930s. Visitors can see how these workers created trails, buildings, and facilities that people still use today.

The park is easy to reach by car and offers different activities by season, from swimming to hiking. Visitors should know that warmer months work best for outdoor activities, while autumn provides stunning mountain views.

The park sits at a high elevation in the mountains, which means the air stays cooler than in lower areas and nature stays green longer. This higher location makes it a pleasant escape during the hottest summer months.
