Slaughter Mountain

Slaughter Mountain is a summit in the Blue Ridge Mountains that reaches 1,322 meters (4,338 feet) above sea level. The peak sits within a wilderness complex known for its forested slopes and multiple hiking trail systems.

The peak received its name from a conflict between Native American tribes during the early colonial period in the region. This naming reflects the broader territorial interactions that shaped the area before European settlement.

The peak sits roughly 1.5 kilometers (1 mile) from Blood Mountain, the county's highest summit. This proximity to a taller neighboring peak makes it an appealing intermediate destination for hikers exploring multiple elevations.
