Slaughter Mountain, Mountain summit in Union County, Georgia, United States.
Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Slaughter Mountain rises to 4,338 feet, making it the ninth-highest peak in the state of Georgia.
The mountain received its name following a significant battle between Cherokee and Creek Indian tribes during the early settlement period of Georgia.
The mountain stands as a memorial to Native American territorial conflicts, preserving the memory of interactions between regional tribes in the southeastern United States.
Hikers can reach the summit using the Coosa Backcountry Trail or Duncan Ridge Trail, with both paths offering different difficulty levels and natural features.
The mountain forms part of the Blood Mountain Wilderness complex, situated 1.5 kilometers from Blood Mountain, the highest peak in Union County.
