Helton Creek Falls

Helton Creek Falls is a waterfall in Chattahoochee National Forest consisting of two tiers that cascade one after the other. The upper tier drops first, followed by a lower section, creating a two-stage effect as water moves downhill.

This area was originally home to the Cherokee people before forced relocation campaigns in the 1830s transformed the region. The waterfall sits on land that held deep meaning for its original inhabitants.

Local artists and photographers regularly visit the falls to capture its natural elements through various mediums, contributing to North Georgia's artistic documentation.

The hiking trail is short and moderately easy, with free parking at the trailhead for visitor convenience. Access is by way of a gravel Forest Service road that most vehicles can navigate.

A natural pool at the base of the waterfall sits surrounded by old-growth hemlock trees and dense fern populations. This sheltered spot offers visitors a quiet place to watch the water flow up close.
