Arkaquah Trail, National Recreation Trail in northern Georgia, United States
The Arkaquah Trail is a hiking path that stretches 5.5 miles through the Chattahoochee National Forest and connects the peak of Brasstown Bald with the rock carving site at Track Rock Gap. Along the way, the trail follows Locust Log Ridge and passes through forested hillside with varied trees and stone formations.
The trail was developed in a forest area that was designated by the U.S. Forest Service to protect natural landscapes. The Brasstown Wilderness area reflects an effort to keep this region preserved for future generations.
The southern endpoint features ancient rock carvings made by Native Americans on soapstone that tell stories from long ago.
The northern end starts at the highest mountain in Georgia with parking available there. The southern end can also be reached by car, giving hikers flexible options.
The path offers hikers rare chances to spot different plants and rock formations specific to the southern Appalachian region. These geological features make the area botanically and geologically distinctive.
