West Hoboken, Historical municipality in Hudson County, New Jersey, US.

West Hoboken encompassed a region with two commercial centers located at Paterson Plank Road and Summit Avenue, and Bergen Turnpike near Union Hill.

The territory began as part of Pavonia, New Netherland in 1658 when Director-General Peter Stuyvesant purchased the land from the Hackensack tribe members.

The municipality witnessed demographic shifts throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, growing to over 40,000 residents by 1920.

West Hoboken functioned as an independent township from February 28, 1861, until its merger with Union Hill to form Union City on June 1, 1925.

The first commercial sale of Mallomars cookies occurred at a grocery store in West Hoboken, marking a notable moment in American confectionery history.
