Wildwood State Park, State park on Long Island Sound, New York.
Wildwood State Park is a nature reserve along Long Island Sound covering around 600 acres of mature hardwood forest. The landscape slopes toward a high bluff overlooking the water, with walking trails, natural beach areas, and recreational facilities spread throughout the grounds.
New York State acquired this coastal area to develop it as a public recreational destination for the surrounding community. Trails and sports facilities were added to the property to support outdoor activities for visitors from across the region.
During summer months, the park hosts weekly outdoor movie screenings and traditional line dancing events for campers to participate in community gatherings.
Twelve miles of marked walking trails wind through the property, and visitors can swim or join organized sports activities. Ten furnished cottages are available for overnight stays if you want to spend more time exploring the area.
Two miles of natural beach coastline host native shore birds that visitors can watch during summer months while enjoying water and beach activities. This quieter section along the coast offers a less crowded spot for viewing wildlife alongside your outdoor recreation.
