Wilford H. Fawcett House
Wilford H. Fawcett House, National Register listed residence in Breezy Point, Minnesota, US
The Wilford H. Fawcett House is a lakeside residence on a point overlooking Big Pelican Lake, featuring a distinctive Y-shaped floor plan built entirely with Norwegian pine logs. The structure combines traditional log construction with modernized interior amenities while maintaining original architectural elements and can accommodate up to 30 guests.
The house was built in the 1920s by Captain Billy Fawcett, founder of Fawcett Publications, as part of the early development of the Breezy Point Resort area. Minneapolis architects Magney and Tusler designed it in Swiss Chateau style, helping shape the character of this lakeside destination.
The design by Minneapolis architects reflects wealthy lakeside living preferences of the era, with careful attention to both interior comfort and distinctive architectural details visible throughout the rooms.
The property features modernized amenities while maintaining its original log construction, making it comfortable for visitors who appreciate historic architecture. The lakeside location on a peninsula means access requires planning, so it's helpful to confirm directions before your visit.
The exterior logs were carefully peeled and stained brown, while interior surfaces are finished with varnish to create smooth, warm surfaces throughout. Wrought iron fixtures found in many rooms demonstrate the careful craftsmanship applied to even the smaller details.
