Wiehle–Reston East Station, Washington Metro station in Reston, Virginia; western terminus of the Silver line
Wiehle-Reston East Station is a surface-level metro station in Fairfax County, situated at the corner of Wiehle Avenue and Reston Station Boulevard. The station sits on the Silver Line and offers access to a large parking garage, bicycle storage, and regional bus connections.
The station opened in 2014 as the western end of the Silver Line, where trains turned around on a pocket track before continuing back east. In November 2022, the line was extended further west to Ashburn, turning it into an intermediate stop.
The station takes its name from Wiehle Avenue, which itself goes back to a small settlement from the late 1800s. Today the area around the station mixes offices, apartments, and shops within walking distance of the platform.
The station has elevators, ramps, and clear signs throughout, making it easy to use for all visitors. First-time travelers find it straightforward to navigate because the layout is open and well marked.
For several years after it opened, this was the only metro stop serving the entire Reston area, making it the sole gateway to the Silver Line for a large part of Fairfax County. A virtual tour of the station is available online, allowing travelers to explore the layout before they arrive.
