Windsor Mills Covered Bridge

The Windsor Mills Covered Bridge extends 120 feet over Phelps Creek, featuring a single-span Town truss design with cut stone abutments and white pine lumber construction.

Built in 1867, this historic bridge remained operational until the 1960s when Wiswell Road was rerouted, leading to its complete closure in the 1980s due to safety concerns.

The bridge represents 19th-century American engineering practices, demonstrating the period's construction methods with locally quarried sandstone and creek stone materials.

Following extensive renovations from 2002 to 2004, the bridge reopened for passenger vehicles but maintains restrictions against trucks and buses crossing its structure.

The structure stands as one of only seventeen drivable covered bridges in Ashtabula County, carrying Covered Bridge Lane, formerly known as Wiswell Road.
