Punderson State Park, State park and natural lake in Geauga County, United States.

Punderson State Park is a protected area in Geauga County with a large lake, residential buildings, and a golf course on its grounds. The 741-acre property includes 61 acres of water and several structures for visitors to use, including cottage accommodations.

The land was first settled in 1808 by Lemuel Punderson, who built a dam and mill next to the lake. The lake itself was formed thousands of years ago when glaciers retreated and left behind a deep depression in the landscape.

The English Tudor manor house shapes how the park feels and reflects the tradition of recreational estates built in Ohio during the early 1900s. Visitors can observe this architectural style while walking through the grounds and see how such places once served as private retreats.

The park offers different activities throughout the year, with sledding and skiing available in winter and boating and camping during warmer months. Check what facilities are available before visiting, as weather and season affect which activities are offered.

Punderson Lake is Ohio's largest kettle lake and was formed by a single glacier retreat event. This depth makes the lake a habitat for beavers, herons, and other animals that prefer clean, deep water.
