Double Loop, Steel roller coaster in Aurora, Ohio.
Double Loop was a steel roller coaster featuring two vertical loops rising 55 and 50 feet respectively, plus a 90-foot drop and 550 yards of steel track. The ride was located at Geauga Lake amusement park in Aurora.
Arrow Dynamics built Double Loop in 1977 at Geauga Lake, creating the world's first roller coaster with two consecutive vertical loops. This pioneering design became significant in amusement park history.
The ride received a yellow track and purple support makeover in 2000 when Six Flags took over Geauga Lake. This refresh reflected the park's new direction under the theme park company.
The ride could accommodate 525 passengers per hour and required riders to be at least 48 inches tall. Visitors should know the attraction closed in 2007 and is no longer operating.
After closing in 2007, Cleveland Scrap purchased the ride at auction and subsequently dismantled it completely. This fate was common for many retired coasters from that era.
