Brandywine Falls

Brandywine Falls cascades over distinct layers of Berea Sandstone and Bedford shale, forming a natural staircase pattern as water flows down the rock face.

In 1814, George Wallace constructed a saw mill at the falls, initiating the development of a settlement that utilized the water power for various industrial operations.

The falls and surrounding gorge became a focal point for artists during the 1900s, contributing to the development of a creative community in the area.

Visitors can access the falls through a boardwalk system that includes an upper viewing platform and a lower deck reached by descending 80 steps.

The geological formation reveals multiple rock layers that document millions of years of Ohio's natural history through its sandstone and shale composition.
