Williston-West Church and Parish House, Gothic church in West End, Portland, United States.
Williston-West Church is a Gothic building in Portland's West End with a distinctive three-story tower at the corner of Carroll and Thomas Streets. The main structure features Gothic-arched windows and a large rose window, while a companion parish house built later connects to the church through a courtyard.
The building was designed in 1897 by architect Francis H. Fassett as part of the city's late 19th-century development. The parish buildings gained further recognition when added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
The church served as the founding location of Christian Endeavor International, a movement that brought together young people across different faiths. The spaces still show signs of its role as a gathering place for community and exchange.
The church is centrally located in Portland's West End and is easy to reach by public transportation. Today the building houses professional offices while being maintained through careful restoration to preserve its architectural character.
The adjacent parish house was designed in 1905 by architects John Calvin Stevens and John Howard Stevens and elegantly connects to the main church through an internal courtyard. This spatial arrangement demonstrates thoughtful design that unites church and community building into one cohesive complex.
