Kingdom Come State Park, State park in Harlan County, Kentucky, US.
Kingdom Come State Park spans 2,400 acres across Pine Mountain with limestone cliffs, dense forests, and a 3.5-acre mountain lake. Fourteen marked hiking trails connect natural rock formations such as Raven Rock and Log Rock, with primitive campsites available for overnight stays.
Established in 1961, the park takes its name from John Fox Jr.'s 1903 novel The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come, connecting the landscape to an important work of regional literature. This literary connection shaped how the park became known to visitors and locals alike.
The Cave Amphitheater serves as a gathering place where residents and visitors experience traditional Appalachian music and regional storytelling that reflects the mountain community's roots.
The park is accessible year-round with trails suited to various hiking abilities, though terrain is hilly and sometimes rocky. Wear sturdy footwear and bring water, as facilities are basic and spread across the mountain landscape.
Raven Rock forms a striking limestone formation that rises at a steep angle, making it one of the most notable geological features visitors encounter. This distinctive rock formation has attracted explorers and hikers to the park for many years.
