Main Street Historic District

The Main Street Historic District is a commercial area in Medina that extends along Main Street with buildings from different architectural styles. The structures showcase Romanesque, Queen Anne, and Italianate designs, mostly built between 1845 and 1925.

The development of the Erie Canal in 1817 turned Medina into a commercial center and caused rapid population growth and business establishment. This economic expansion shaped the formation and growth of the district.

The Bent Block served as a gathering place where residents came together for performances and social events. This tradition shapes how people experience and interact with the space today.

The district contains multiple restaurants, shops, and galleries located in restored nineteenth-century buildings. Parking is available near the commercial establishments.

The Paddock Hotel has been continuously operating since 1855 and retains its original architectural features. This building represents one of the oldest lodging structures in the region and shows how structures serve their purpose over generations.
