The development of the Erie Canal in 1817 transformed Medina into a commercial center, leading to rapid population growth and the establishment of numerous businesses.
The Bent Block, constructed in 1865, functioned as an opera house and central gathering space where residents participated in performances and social events.
The district contains multiple restaurants, shops, and galleries within restored nineteenth-century structures, with parking available near the commercial establishments.
The Paddock Hotel, dating from 1855, remains the oldest operating hotel building in the district, maintaining its original architectural features through generations.
