Lakeside Beach State Park, State park at Lake Ontario waterfront, New York, United States.
Lakeside Beach State Park is a New York state park situated along the southern shore of Lake Ontario, in Orleans County. The grounds include a sandy beach, open grassy areas, wooded trails, and a campground, all spread along the water's edge.
The park was established by the New York State Office of Parks to protect the Lake Ontario shoreline and open it to the public before development could take hold. Over time, new facilities were added to the site, including a disc golf course that opened in 2009.
The name Lakeside Beach reflects the park's direct connection to the water, where the shoreline is the main gathering point for families, picnics, and group outings. On summer weekends, the beach fills with people swimming and resting on the sand while others explore the wooded areas behind it.
The park sits in northern New York, within reasonable driving distance of Rochester, and has a large parking area for day visitors and overnight campers. Winds off the lake can be strong even on warm days, so it is worth bringing a light jacket whenever you visit.
The Shore Winds Disc Golf Course runs directly along the lakeshore, which means players throw into the wind for most of the 18 holes, making the course noticeably harder than a typical inland layout. This wind factor draws experienced disc golfers who specifically seek out courses where weather plays a real role in the game.
