Cromwell Valley Park, Educational nature park in Baltimore County, Maryland
Cromwell Valley Park is a nature preserve covering 426 acres with forests, meadows, gardens, and historic structures nestled within rolling Piedmont hills. The land features two main entrances at Sherwood Farm and Willow Grove, each with designated parking areas for visitors.
The valley received its name in 1773 from William Cromwell and became a center for limestone production during the 1700s. Historic structures throughout the property remain as evidence of its former agricultural and industrial importance to the region.
The Willow Grove Nature Education Center offers hands-on programs about conservation, farming, and local history to visitors of all ages. Live amphibian and reptile exhibits allow guests to observe native creatures up close.
The park opens at sunrise and closes at sunset daily with free admission for all visitors. Both entrances provide convenient parking, and pathways are accessible for people with varying mobility needs.
The Children's Garden spans half an acre where school groups engage in planting and harvesting activities throughout the seasons. A small pond within this area draws visitors interested in watching local wildlife in its natural habitat.
