Overpeck County Park, County park in Leonia, New Jersey.
This 811-acre recreational facility spans across four municipalities in Bergen County, featuring sports fields, walking trails, boat launches, tennis courts, and natural wetlands surrounding Overpeck Creek.
Established in the 1950s following A. Thornton Bishop's vision to create a Central Park equivalent, the park expanded through land donations and purchases from Teaneck, Leonia, Palisades Park, and Ridgefield Park during the 1970s.
The park serves as a community gathering space hosting outdoor festivals, environmental education programs, and recreational activities that bring together residents from multiple Bergen County municipalities throughout the year.
Open daily from dawn to dusk with on-site parking available, the park can be accessed via Fort Lee Road or New Jersey Transit Bus Line 182, with fishing permits required for creek activities.
The Henry Hoebel Area features a dedicated 9/11 Memorial honoring World Trade Center victims, while the Teaneck Creek Conservancy manages a 46-acre eco-art environment combining natural preservation with artistic installations.
