Evergreen Cemetery

Evergreen Cemetery is a military burial site in Murfreesboro with mature maple, oak, and magnolia trees throughout its grounds. The property includes numerous gravestones representing burials from many different periods and regions.

The cemetery was founded in 1872 when a doctor donated land for burial purposes. A designated area was later developed to honor fallen soldiers from a major conflict.

Researchers used special scanning technology to discover unmarked graves hidden beneath the surface. This discovery led to the creation of a new memorial monument installed in 2023 to honor those whose names had been forgotten.
