Memorial Stadium

Memorial Stadium was a college football facility on the University of Connecticut campus that held around 16,200 people. The venue featured concrete and steel construction with seating areas on both sides and basic amenities for spectators.

The stadium opened in 1953 as the home field for the University of Connecticut football team. After nearly 50 years of use, it closed in 2002 when the university decided to repurpose the land for new construction.

Students and alumni gathered at Memorial Stadium on game days to support the Connecticut Huskies while displaying school colors and participating in traditions.

Visitors could easily walk to this location on game days from various points across the university campus. The simple layout made arrival and departure straightforward, though facilities were modest by modern standards.

The stadium was completely demolished in 2012 to make way for a new basketball center on campus. This transformation reflects how universities shift their athletic priorities over time.
