Five bronze busts of George Washington by Avard Fairbanks stand at different intersections across the George Washington University campus in Washington, D.C.
The sculptures received copyright registration in 1975 and underwent an official dedication ceremony at George Washington University on February 16, 1993.
Each bronze bust functions as a territorial marker for the university grounds, creating orientation points for the academic community within the campus.
The sculptures measure 46 inches in height, 32 inches in width, and 27 inches in depth, positioned on granite bases at five different campus intersections.
During the 2020 protests, one bust was temporarily displaced from its pedestal but remained undamaged and was recovered near its original location.
