Constructed in 1804 by Tekahskeh, also known as Hair Conrad, the cabin served as residence for this Cherokee leader who later guided the first detachment during the 1838 removal.
The cabin reflects the intersection of Cherokee and European building traditions, as Hair Conrad, born to a white father and Cherokee mother, adopted settler construction styles.

The structure maintains its position as Bradley County's oldest standing residential building and received National Register of Historic Places recognition in September 1976.
