The congregation first gathered in 1836 at the Bradley County Courthouse, and after four relocations, the current building was constructed in 1893.
The church follows an Akron plan sanctuary layout, which became a standard architectural approach for Protestant churches in late 19th century America.
Located at 155 Central Avenue Northwest, the church occupies 0.3 acres of land and continues to serve the Methodist community of Cleveland.
During the Civil War in 1863, Union Army forces converted the previous church building into a storage facility for military supplies.
