Nuckolls-Jefferies House
Nuckolls-Jefferies House, Historic plantation house in Pacolet, South Carolina.
Nuckolls-Jefferies House is a two-and-half-story residence in North Carolina with a frame structure and stone foundation. The building combines Greek Revival and Classical style elements in its design and stands alongside several surviving outbuildings, including a log smokehouse and two frame barns.
The house was built in 1843 and named after the two families who made it their home. In the 1870s, new owners added Neo-Classical features that transformed the original design.
The name reflects the two families who shaped the property across generations and left their mark on its development. Visitors can observe how the room layout and surviving outbuildings reveal the daily routines and social structure of rural life in the region.
The private property is located in a rural setting and can be viewed from the exterior. The surroundings are quiet and offer a sense of the historical agricultural landscape that once defined the area.
The front facade features a striking double-tiered central porch with a pediment, supported by wooden posts and decorated with arched cutouts and a circular window with floral detailing. This distinctive feature was a fashionable choice that signaled wealth and refined taste.
