Government Plaza, Binghamton, Civic complex in downtown Binghamton, United States.

Government Plaza is a civic complex in downtown Binghamton comprising three interconnected buildings arranged in a U-shape. The site includes an 18-story State Office Building, County Office Building, and City Hall, along with a two-level underground parking structure.

The complex originated during urban renewal efforts in the late 1960s and early 1970s that transformed downtown Binghamton. These projects were designed to revitalize the city center and establish modern facilities for regional administration.

The plaza serves as a central meeting point where residents attend city council sessions and interact with local government officials. It functions as a space where people engage with civic matters and voice their concerns to decision makers.

The site is easily accessible on foot from downtown and offers ample underground parking for visitors and employees. The buildings are open on most weekdays, with clear signage directing visitors to various departments and services.

A transformer fire in 1981 caused a 13-year closure of the State Office Building and required extensive cleanup operations. This incident remains a significant part of local history and demonstrates the city's resilience in recovering its infrastructure.
