The Broome County Courthouse features a copper dome atop a two-and-a-half-story structure built on a raised foundation in the form of a Latin cross.
The courthouse, constructed between 1897 and 1898, received its south wing addition in 1916, transforming its original T-shape into a complete cross design.
Architect Isaac G. Perry incorporated Classical Revival elements throughout the building, establishing it as a central piece of Binghamton's Court Street Historic District.
The courthouse occupies 4.5 acres of land and maintains regular operating hours for public access to governmental and judicial services in Broome County.
The building received recognition from the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, cementing its position as a significant example of civic architecture.
