Millennium Tower, Residential skyscraper in Downtown Crossing, Boston, US
Millennium Tower is a residential skyscraper in downtown Boston with 60 floors above ground and 4 levels below, housing about 400 residential units. The building includes substantial shared facilities with a large fitness center spanning two levels, designed as the biggest residential gym space in the city.
Construction began in 2013 on the former site of Filene's department store, transforming a long-established retail location into residential space. This project marked a turning point in how the area shifted from commercial shopping to modern residential living.
The building introduces modern residential design to Downtown Crossing, incorporating luxury living spaces with custom kitchens designed by Christopher Peacock.
The tower is easily accessible by public transportation and sits in a well-serviced downtown area with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Visitors can explore the public areas or view the building's modern architecture from the street level.
The project required one of Boston's largest concrete foundation pours ever, with hundreds of trucks delivering materials daily to the construction site. This engineering feat was necessary to create a stable base for the massive structure.
