The Ramova Theater stands at 3508-3518 South Halsted Street with its terra cotta ornaments and classical plaster details adorning the Spanish-style facade.
Lithuanian immigrant Jokūbas Maskoliūnas established this 1,300-seat entertainment venue in 1929, making it the largest theater in the Bridgeport neighborhood.
Architect Myer O. Nathan designed the interior to replicate a Spanish courtyard, complete with false fronts, balconies, and neoclassical architectural elements.
The renovated theater now functions as a live music venue with an attached craft brewery, restaurant, and outdoor beer garden for visitors.
The theater's name, selected through a local newspaper contest, comes from a Lithuanian word meaning peaceful place.
