State Street Village

State Street Village is a residential complex at the Illinois Institute of Technology comprising three connected five-story buildings with dormitory rooms positioned on the north and south sides of each structure. Every floor includes communal kitchens and laundry facilities, while the suites contain two double bedrooms sharing a bathroom.

The residence hall opened in 2003 as a modern design by the architecture firm Murphy Jahn Associates. It was built to meet growing housing needs for students within Chicago's urban core.

This residence contributes to student life at the Illinois Institute of Technology through shared spaces on upper floors, including lounges and outdoor decks where residents gather. These areas become natural meeting points that help build community among the students who live here.

The building is restricted to residents and uses ID card scanners at entry points to control access. Visitors should arrange entry in advance through the students who live there, as this is a private residential facility.

The complex was intentionally positioned as an anchor for revitalizing the surrounding Bronzeville neighborhood, with its location along State Street contributing to the area's renewal. This strategic placement helped transform the street and the immediate vicinity into a more active student-focused zone.
