Saratoga Battle Monument, Granite obelisk in Victory, New York.
The 155-foot granite monument stands on a high bluff, featuring bronze statues of American military leaders and offering views of the Hudson Valley.
The monument marks the location where British General John Burgoyne surrendered to American forces in 1777, altering the course of the Revolutionary War.
The memorial contains sixteen bronze bas-relief plaques depicting scenes from the American Revolution, along with decorative ceramic tiles and stained glass elements.
Visitors can climb 188 steps through five levels to reach the observation platform at the top of the monument during scheduled opening hours.
The southern niche remains intentionally empty, originally planned for Benedict Arnold, reflecting his transformation from military hero to national traitor.
