Möslbahn, Cable car station in Hippach, Austria
The Möslbahn is a cable car system connecting Hochschwendberg to Horberg across a span of about 1.6 kilometers. The installation operates continuously with multiple cabins moving passengers between the two stations throughout the day.
Construction of the cable car began in autumn 2017 and the system opened to the public in December 2018. This project modernized access to the Penken ski area and replaced the need for shuttle buses.
The opening ceremony included a traditional blessing by Reverend Mag Christoph Frischmann, followed by an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The system moves a large flow of visitors up the mountain efficiently without requiring long waits. The lower station sits directly near parking areas, making access straightforward for drivers.
The system bears the name Mösl, a reference to something local in this mountain region. For visitors, it provides a direct route from the village area straight to the ski slopes without changing cable cars.
