AMP Building, Sydney, Office skyscraper at Circular Quay, Sydney, Australia
The AMP Building is an office tower at Circular Quay in Sydney, positioned on the northern edge of the central business district with views toward the harbour. It rises across more than 50 floors and its stacked glass form is clearly visible from the waterfront promenade.
The building opened in 1976 under the name AMP Centre and held the title of Sydney's tallest structure for about a year before another tower surpassed it. It kept its place on the skyline and later underwent a major interior overhaul completed in 2023.
The AMP Building sits at a point where office workers, tourists, and commuters share the same footpath every day. This mix makes the area around it one of the most lively crossroads in the city center.
The building stands next to Circular Quay station and the ferry wharves, so it is easy to reach on foot from the waterfront. Most of the interior is a working office environment and not open to casual visitors.
The 2023 renovation kept much of the original structure in place while managing to double the available office space through redesign. The result is a building that looks familiar from the outside but works very differently on the inside.
