The AMP Centre is an office building standing at the intersection of Alfred, Phillip, and Young streets in central Sydney. It features 26 floors of modernist design that define the skyline and serve as a landmark in the business district.
The building opened in 1962 and was Australia's tallest structure at that time. It marked a turning point in the post-war development of Sydney's central business district.
The architecture firm Peddle, Thorp & Walker designed this structure, which received the New South Wales Enduring Architecture Award in 2013.
The building is near Circular Quay and has direct connections to public transportation. Its central location makes it easy to reach and well-connected to other parts of the city.
The original roof observation deck attracted over one million visitors in its first two years. This shows how much the structure captivated the public when it was new.
