Pilmaiquén is a rural settlement positioned at the boundary between Los Lagos and Los Ríos regions, with International Route 215 passing through the area. The place consists mainly of residential properties with gardens and terraces, situated roughly 45 kilometers from Osorno city.
This location developed around the Pilmaiquén River, which is harnessed through a hydroelectric power plant. The facility opens its gates from June through July to allow water flow back into the river's natural channel.
