Pizzo Forno

Pizzo Forno is a mountain summit in Ticino that rises to 2,907 meters between the Piumogna, Chironico, and Leventina valleys. It displays a distinct pyramid shape that stands out clearly against the backdrop of the Lepontine Alps.

The mountain formed during the Alpine orogeny, the major geological event that shaped the Alps. This process created the soft rock structures that characterize the peak today.

The mountain contains substantial deposits of blue kyanite and staurolite crystals that attract mineral collectors. These mineral formations make it a notable location for geological observation.
