Böblingen is a town in Böblingen district in the Stuttgart Region, northern Baden-Württemberg. The urban layout shows residential neighborhoods on gentle hills, commercial zones at the edges, and an artificial lake in the center surrounded by green spaces and mid-rise buildings.
Count Wilhelm von Tübingen-Böblingen founded the settlement in 1253. The Counts of Württemberg acquired it in 1357 and developed it into a local administrative center.
