Böblingen district is an administrative region in the Stuttgart area that spans more than 600 square kilometers and comprises 26 municipalities. The area covers diverse landscapes, from the Black Forest to the Schönbuch nature reserve.
The area took its current form in 1937 with its establishment from the former administrative district and underwent major change in 1973 through the integration of parts of Leonberg district. This restructuring created the region's present structure.
The area is shaped by its long-standing connection to automobile manufacturing, with development centers of major producers defining the character of different towns. This industrial heritage has formed the identity of the region across generations.
The area is well connected to Stuttgart through a network of commuter trains, regional railways, and federal highways, making it easy for visitors to explore the region. Most towns are readily accessible by public transport.
