Moritzburg Castle, Baroque castle and museum in Moritzburg, Germany.
Moritzburg Castle is a baroque hunting lodge and museum on an artificial island in Saxony. It features four round towers and a symmetrical architectural layout.
Duke Maurice of Saxony commissioned a hunting lodge between 1542 and 1546. Augustus the Strong later transformed it into a baroque palace.
The interior displays an extensive collection of hunting trophies, gilt leather tapestries, and a room decorated with more than one million colored feathers.
The palace opens Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Visitors can explore both the main building and the park grounds.
The castle grounds include Saxony's only lighthouse. It was built to illuminate staged naval battles during royal festivities.
