Predigtstuhl, Mountain peak in Bad Reichenhall, Germany.
Predigtstuhl is a 1,613-meter (5,292-foot) summit in the Lattengebirge range of the Berchtesgaden Alps near Bad Reichenhall. From the top, views extend across surrounding valleys and neighboring mountain ridges, with visibility stretching far across the landscape on clear days.
A cable car system was built in 1928, making the mountain accessible to visitors without requiring difficult climbs. This marked the start of modern tourism development on the peak and changed how people could experience the location.
The name means 'pulpit' in German, referring to the distinctive rock formation crowning the summit that resembles a church's speaking platform. Local people and visitors recognize this shape when they reach the top.
You can reach the summit either by hiking trails from Bad Reichenhall, Bayerisch Gmain, or Schneizlreuth, or by using the cable car. If you want to eat at elevation, there is a restaurant at the cable car station and an alpine hut near Schlegelmulde.
The mountain is a popular launch site for paragliders who take off from designated spots near the summit. Visitors at the top often see colorful parachutes in the sky, especially when weather conditions are favorable for flying.
