Haus Kotten

Haus Kotten is a two-story manor house accessed by a tree-lined avenue, with several outbuildings arranged across the property. A tower-like structure on the northeastern part of the grounds forms the core of this estate complex.

The manor house in its present form dates from the 17th century, though it developed from a rural estate founded during the 13th century. The complex received official protection as a cultural monument in 1983.

The name reflects an old form of rural estate typical to this region, and the property shapes the character of the Bösperde landscape. Over generations, the families who lived here have maintained the traditional appearance and use of the land.

The estate sits in Menden-Bösperde on Heidestraße, surrounded by the rolling hills typical of the Sauerland region. Visitors should note that the manor house stands on private property and can only be viewed from the outside.
